This is the best jazz joint in the East Village, not that there are a lot of 'em. It's strictly old-school on the turntable (Bird, Miles, King Cole, et al.), but the nightly live acts run the jazz gamut. Detour is great for impressing a dame (especially since it was recently spruced up), entertaining the boys from Chicago, or just grabbing a shot and a beer at a corner table and waiting till it all blows over. And there's never a cover.
